MEGA Homecoming Post I

It's that time of the year! Homecoming is right around the corner for you crazy teenagers, so starting today, I will be doing a series of posts that are all things homecoming. From the perfect dress to the perfect shoes, I will be giving you the 411 on what's hot and CANNOT be found at Windsor (AHHH prom flashbacks).

So this is how it will go:
1. I'll post a picture of an item with a corresponding number, the name of the designer, and the price.

2. Email me (jdiaz562@gmail.com) the number of the pic and all of it's info and I will send you the link to find it online. (This will prevent 10 people from having the same dress....flashbacks, flashbacks.)

3. If you decide not to buy it, please let me know so I can pass it on to someone else.

Make sense?

Ok, I'll give you some background. Prom 2004. I bought a one-of-a-kind pink ombre silk gown from a boutique that was a replica of the yellow dress from
How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days. To my HORROR, Windsor decided to make a knock-off of the dress in black and yellow. On prom night I was surrounded by 15 other girls with my dress on (except cheaper-looking and ill-fitting). I would never wish this upon another human being so I will try my damndest to make sure that you don't suffer the same fate.

Now on to the dresses, PART I: Glamour from the U.K.

1. Karen Millen $365.96

2. Site Brand $73.56

3. Oasis $275.85

4. Site Brand $58.85

5. Karen Millen $294.24

6. Site Brand $73.56

7. Site Brand $125.00

8. Site Brand $70.00

Once again my email address is: jdiaz562@gmail.com. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

O My God, SHOES!

My mom is my enabler and I love her for it.

So today my mom called me at work to tell me about a website that sends you a pair of shoes every month for only $39. In order to get started, you take a survey about your favorite style looks and later on the stylists from the website choose 5 shoe looks that they believe best represent your taste. Then you pick your favorite and they're sent to your doorstep with free shipping! This sounded very promising, and the minute I saw these babies:

I WAS SOLD! Try it out if you feel daring. I've already suckered my co-workers into trying it. I will update later on the results of the experiment.

BRAVO!

Most of my Sunday was spent sitting in front of the TV, at my mom's house, watching shows that I haven't seen before because I don't have cable in my apartment.
One of the shows I got to catch was the final episode of Bravo TV's The Fashion Show. Let me first start by saying that, CLEARLY, this show is a knock-off of Project Runway. However, I will forgive them because Bravo did lose a money-maker when PR went to Lifetime. So moving on, I thought the show was kind of blah... there were some interesting designers but none were at the caliber of past PR contestants. But one thing that I thought was really cool about this show was that you can have the option to buy any garment that won the weekly challenge. SUPER COOL! I still want every single item that Michael ever made when he was on Project Runway, but only because every time he smiled he made my heart melt...

Anyway, here are some of my favorite, available-for-purchase, designs from this season of The Fashion Show:

1. Listed for $225, made by Daniella:

2. Listed for $225, made by Anna: (P.S. this is a great Homecoming dress option for those teenagers out there lookin')

3. Listed for $225, made by Anna: (I bought an almost exact replica of this jacket for my sister from the LaRok sample sale last year and it was only $10)

You can check out the rest of the winning looks here.

Fall Forecast

I don't know why but lately I've been obsessed with Fall clothing and accessories. It might be because I'm kind of already over this whole summer situation. But anyway....I have unearthed one of the BEST inspiration resources online. Shopstyle let's you view lookbooks from other fashion bloggers.

For example:

Golden Goose at ShopStyle

This little collection was put together by BUBLEGUMA, and let me tell ya, she's got my ideal fall look down pat. I will take everything on the list please...minus the earrings.
So if you have some free time today, pay a visit to Shopstyle and get some ideas on wardrobe compilations.

P.S. If you swear by Jeans for your daily routine, you might want to check out this event on Saturday. Up to 80% off designer jeans.
P.S.S. I have been to one of these sales and, yes, the jeans are real but, no, you won't find jeans for $10.

Little Boots

After recovering safely from a fun-filled weekend (aka: scorching hot, sun-burned, pool adventure) I found myself browsing the web for some more interesting finds.

Luckily, I stumbled upon the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. And while I realized that it might be too soon to invest in another fashion purchase I thought I could browse around for some designer look-alikes at budget prices. To my surprise, Nordy's read my mind and created my own little category of "Boots under $100." I love boots and, most of the time, they love me too. But, I only love to look at them because typically, boots have 4 inch heels are higher. While I would be glad to wear 5 inch boots, I am well aware that my 5' 7" self would look like an amazon woman towering over the villagers. So I will offer my discoveries to those vertically-challenged ladies with killer walking skills.

At the Anniversary Sale:

I found these babies in the "under $100"
section .

BCBGeneration 'Dishy' Platform Boot

As soon as I saw them I was reminded of
my old boot crush, the YSL Tribute Boot.

They're both black with stiletto heels and platform fronts. While they may not be exactly alike, I would say that you would be getting a better deal with the BCBG boots anyway, and not just because they're $900 cheaper. They also look more wearable and less ...hookery. But who am I kidding, if the Tribute Boot was ever on sale I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Anyway, try to take some time out to browse the anniversary sale. It's a great chance to stock up on some fall weather wardrobe staples.

URBAN!

Great News!!

Make sure to stop by an Urban Outfitters store today because ALL SALE ITEMS will be marked down an additional 50% off! So exciting!

This shiny green purse was my favorite purchase from the sale :)

Update: I just got back from browsing the sale on my lunch break and I have a word of advice. The only sale items that are included in this are those with red price stickers with prices that end in $**.99. Keep that in mind!

London Bridges

This weekend my godmom texted me this funny little message: "125 degress on London Bridge, etc..." and after asking her exactly which London bridge she was talking about (fyi: Arizona) I got to thinking about London and how cool it would be to go shopping there and possibly run into Kate Moss.

But seeing as how that won't be happening anytime soon I went ahead and picked out some of my fave outfits from a couple of UK websites that sale and deliver to the US so that we too can have a piece of their (very stylish) fashion pie.

From Asos.com:

I'm a sucker for a collared dress and the color of this dress is very flattering on all skin tones. The site also has a decent selection of rompers/jumpers. Now I know that jumpers are very trendy right now and they may be a bit awkward to maneuver during bathroom breaks but I can't resist this little flower number. I know my sister has been dying for one so maybe she can beg my mom to get it for her. At only $23.94, it's a bargain.

From TopShop:

Kate Moss!

This popular UK store opened a location in NYC very recently, but for those of us who can't quite make it to the East Coast right now, there is a well-stocked US site that, coincidentally, has just restocked it's Sale department. Personally, I love anything Kate Moss and this outfit is currently, the object of my affection.

Too bad the jacket and belt are no longer available. However, the jumper is on sale for $40.00... there I go with jumpers again.

So if you too would like your piece of the British fashion pie, make sure to check out these sites for a little inspiration or maybe even a dress, or two...

Orange Crush

I'm not usually a big fan of orange because anytime you add black to any part of the outfit someone makes a comment about Halloween. But, lately I've been drawn to more and more orange pieces , like this Nu Collective silk chiffon dress that is now available on Gomatta Girls for only $24.00. You should scoop it up before it's too late.

Happy Friday, BTDub! http://www.ideeli.com/invite/jdiaz562

Welcome to Blogging Jackie!

I have decided to create a blog that will allow me to share all of my great shopping finds with everyone.

Most of the time, I can only share the special deals I have found on a variety of products with my neighboring coworkers. Now they can take a break from my constant "there's a sale" emails. They'll be so grateful.

A little background: I'm a 20-something girl living/working in Los Angeles. I graduated from the finest university in the country last year (go bruins!) and recently moved into my own studio apartment. I spend much of my free time searching for the best shopping deals a girl can find on a tight budget. I mostly browse the sales, dreaming of outfits I could put together if I only bought that one brownMarc Jacobs jacket with pipe detailing...anyway, most of my day is spent daydreaming about shopping and maybe one day opening a boutique of my own that would make designer fashion accessible to everyone, regardless of budget constraints.

Enjoy! I will be back soon to post about my recent discoveries.
